Wedding Shoes?

Black may not be the first color you think of for wedding shoes but I have found a pair that are absolutely fabulous!!!

Take a peek:

Badgley Mischka pumps

Badgley Mischka pumps   (see more black stiletto heels)

Badgley Mischka's Kismet are beautiful and would look great against an ivory dress or any color dress for that matter. If you are looking for unique and exciting, these are the ones.

I think I found my shoes!!!!

What I Thought Mattered the Most, Doesn't Matter at All.

I was never one of those girls that dreamt about their wedding since they were 2 or 3 years old. I never saw myself as a princess bride, wearing a ball gown with a 80 foot train either. However, the thought of one day getting married intrigued and excited me. I watched countless bridal shows on television over the years and I would sometimes fantasize about my own wedding. I used to think it would be cool to wear a wedding dress and have a fancy reception and maybe a "Platinum Wedding;" as WE TV liked to put into our brains. Until recently I thought I wanted the quintessential wedding.

When my fiance proposed to me, I immediately started thinking about wedding planning (as many of you know from my previous posts). I had the venue, the colors and the theme all picked out and ready to go. Today marks 10 months since I have been engaged. I don't think I actually felt engaged until 2-3 months ago. It wasn't until that time that I realized that maybe a fancy wedding is not worth the stress. Maybe I didn't need all of the pomp and circumstance? What I learned about myself throughout this engagement is that many of the things that I thought I wanted, may not be the right things.

I feel so happy and complete with my fiance that I really don't need a photo booth at the wedding or a steel pan performer. All I need is he and I, getting married and making a life together. I understand why other brides want those things, they make a wedding great fun. That is the beauty of everyone on this planet - we are all different. There is not a set of rules that states that all brides should feel the same way and want the same things.

I look at bridal magazines now and I get excited, but its not the same excitement I had months ago. Weddings are beautiful and marriage should be celebrated but for me, the things I thought mattered in a wedding doesn't matter at all.

What do you think?

Stay tuned for more interesting wedding planning!

Building a Successful Marriage: Premarital Counseling

The centerpieces, the flowers, the dress and the reception makes the wedding but what makes a successful marriage? I think that marriage without a plan is probably doomed to failure. This statement may not make you warm and fuzzy inside and you are probably annoyed by my matter-of-fact way of saying it. I apologize if I have offended you but the one thing we all know is: marriage is a lot of work.

I think we brides, sometimes get so caught up in the beauty and wonderment of planning a wedding that we forget the reason why we are getting married in the first place. It is very easy to forget that for years or maybe months, you have grown to fall in love with a person that makes you feel complete and you are happy to spend the rest of your life with him or her. Marriage will sometimes bring out the worst in us. We will fight, we will cry and we will disagree but the one thing that will not change is the love.

Premarital counseling is one step in the wedding planning process that I have been thinking about lately. I know that in order to have a successful marriage, my fiance and I must be prepared for the bad things that will come along in the future. Studies have shown that couples that go to premarital counseling before they  get married have better marriages and are least likely to get divorced. Premarital counseling will definitely get my fiance and I talking about important things such as, children, our likes and dislikes and how to handle certain situations. (I'm sure the counselor will have a better time coming up with topics to talk about. lol!) I'm in the process of discussing the prospect of going to premartial counseling with my fiance - so far I'm winning the debate.

So, have you thought about going to premarital counseling? Does the prospect scare you?

Save The Dates: Contender #2

From Minted.com

Hello lovely ladies (and gentlemen, if you're reading)! Here is contender #2. These save-the-dates are also from minted.com and they are minibooks. One of the main reasons why I like these is because of the color. Purple is our wedding color and these save-the-dates will fit the tone of the wedding perfectly.

The pages of the minibook can serve a few purposes such as, giving guests information on reserved hotel rooms and including the directions to the venue.

Another reason why I like these is mainly due to its overall uniqueness. I have to be honest, I want to impress my guests with the wedding stationary. I also want the wedding stationary to set the tone for the wedding and give guests an indication of what to expect at the wedding. So, I guess you can tell that I really like these save-the-dates, lol.

I have two more contenders to show you, so get ready. Also, I have to decide very quickly because I have to send out my save-the-dates soon.

If you missed the first sample save-the-dates, here they go:

Save The Dates: Contender #1

So, what do think about these save-the-dates?

How did you decide on the most appropriate save-the-dates for your wedding?
